Using a Courier Service for your Guitar Delivery

Tuesday, 11 April 2023 at 11:16

Recently we've been asked by several new customers to help with the delivery of their guitars.

Guitars and other musical instruments, such as harps and trombones are obviously extremely fragile items that need a lot of care and attention, therefore, sending them by a regular overnight carrier may not be a suitable option due to the high risk of damage when being transferred from one vehicle to another and when it's being handled in a depot or transport hub.

Below is some information on how to safely prepare your guitar for shipping from one destination to another.

When selling on eBay, the seller will often list the item as a collection-only sale. This means only buyers who live locally or within reasonable travelling distance to pick up from the seller’s postcode are likely to bid on it.

However, this doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. If you’re buying a guitar in Manchester for example or sending one as a gift to London simply get in touch with Greg Paulson Same Day Couriers as we specialise in the safe delivery of fragile and high value items.

We provide a dedicated vehicle collection and delivery service throughout the whole of the UK, ensuring your instrument arrives safely and on time.

A dedicated vehicle basically means only your guitar would be on the vehicle, and once collected it would be taken directly to the delivery address anywhere in the mainland UK with no other pick-ups or drop-offs made along the way.

As your guitar would be collected and delivered by your own, personal courier there is no need for it to be packaged or put in a case, removal blankets will be provided and the guitar will be secured as necessary.

Still, as this may be your pride and joy and you’re still concerned about its safe delivery, you may want to package it up for your own peace of mind.

Below are some useful packaging tips to ensure your guitar arrives in pristine condition:

  • Loosen the guitar strings to remove any tension from the fretboard. Then place your cloth under the strings and onto the fretboard: this will ensure the frets are protected from any movement from the strings.
  • Wrap the head of your guitar case in bubble wrap.
  • Line the body of the case with several layers of bubble wrap. Make sure that the guitar can’t move or touch the sides of your guitar case.
  • Make sure you wrap the actual guitar with bubble wrap, securing it with tape.
  • Place your guitar in the case and then layer the bottom of it, using both bubble wrap and newspaper. If there are any spaces left around the guitar fill these with screwed-up balls of newspaper.

If you need any more information on the courier services we provide or would like a cost for shipping your guitar, feel free to get in touch with us either by email or by phone, using the contact details below, we'd be pleased to help.
